This short paragraph is to let people know (especially some of you Honokaa residents) who I am. First let me tell you that I am not Mr. Melvin Ah Ching Sr., the former fireman who once worked at the Honokaa Fire Station and later in Waimea. I am his son. Several people have mistaken the elder Mr. Ah Ching as the author of this site and several others that I maintain including Mel's Hawaii Island Photos. I lived in Honokaa for the first 18 years of my life, graduated from Honokaa High School, went to Oahu for college and have basically lived in Honolulu ever since. I return to Honokaa frequently enough to visit my parents and sister and to find out what the latest happenings are. I work as a desktop publisher and maintain several websites on the internet.

Technical Notes: This site was created on a Power Macintosh clone utilizing a 150 mhz PPC 604 processor. The software used to create this website has been mainly Optima Systems Pagespinner for the HTML coding and Adobe Photoshop for image scanning and editing.

These pages have been tested with the following browsers: Netscape 4.x for the Macintosh, Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.1 for the Macintosh and Microsoft Internet Explorer for the PC.
