| An estimated crowd of 1500 people staged a spirited protest against the Governor's Economic Revitalization Task Force's proposal to increase the General Excise Tax. The Hawaii Tea Party '98 sponsored by KHVH Real Radio 830 AM and Small Business Hawaii was broadcast live Rick Hamada's morning talk show. Several legislators including State Senators Sam Slom, Malama Solomon, Norman Sakamoto, Whitney Anderson and Randal Iwase along with Maui Mayor Linda Lingle and Honolulu Mayor Jeremy Harris spoke to the crowd at the rally and on the radio. The photos on these pages highlight some of the many people who came to instigate change for a better Hawaii.
